About this course
Stop clicking through folders. Start controlling your machine with the terminal. This Linux Command Line for Beginners course, created by Keep On Coding, gets you comfortable with the shell in under an hour.
You’ll start with the absolute fundamentals: what the shell is, how to navigate the file system (pwd, ls, cd), and how to explore system files using file, less, and symbolic links. Then you’ll manipulate files and directories using cp, mv, mkdir, rm, and ln — with a dedicated practice section to cement those skills.
From there, the course dives into working with commands (type, which, man, whatis, alias) and the real power of the terminal: redirection with cat, pipelines with cat, sort, uniq, grep, head, tail, and tee, plus expansions with echo. You’ll even learn quoting rules. By the end, you’ll be able to chain commands, redirect output, and work efficiently in any Linux environment.
Who is this for? Absolute beginners who want practical, no-fluff CLI skills. No prior experience needed.
