About this course
Most people think minimalism means owning nothing but a spoon and a mattress. That’s not minimalism—that’s a monk’s vow. This course, led by filmmaker and recovering maximalist Matt D’Avella, dismantles the myth that minimalism is about deprivation. Instead, it’s about clearing physical and mental clutter so you can focus on what actually matters.
You’ll tackle three concrete areas: 1) The 90/90 rule for possessions—if you haven’t used it in 90 days and won’t in the next 90, it’s gone. 2) Digital minimalism: unsubscribing from noise, curating notifications, and reclaiming your attention. 3) The one-shelf challenge: restricting yourself to a single shelf for personal items and seeing how little you truly need. By the end, you’ll have a clear process for deciding what stays, what goes, and why.
This course is for anyone who feels overwhelmed by stuff—whether it’s a crammed closet, a chaotic inbox, or a to-do list that never ends. No, you won’t be forced to throw away sentimental items. You’ll learn to question habits, not memories. After watching, you’ll be able to walk into any room and instantly spot the excess, then take one actionable step to simplify it. Start with less, gain more.
